David Steenburg (Tour For Teens 2026)
*** The Lone Ride ***
Problem #1: I am not around on the T4T event day, so I can’t ride with everybody else.
Solution #1: I will ride alone on June 27, doing the 50 km rail-trail ride from Brantford to Port Dover. On my hybrid bike, that should take a little less than 4 hours.
Problem #2: Donor fatigue! I set the goal to a minimum of $2,000. I have contributed ¼ of that, but $1,500 is still a lot to raise.
Solution #2: Experiment with a new approach. Could I find 300+ people willing to give $5. What if I put out the request to all my friends, and ask them to share that request with their friends. And maybe their friends will share it, too. $5. Less than a trip to Starbucks.
Problem #3: Riding alone is a bummer.
Solution #3: If you are willing to be part of Solution #2, feel free to join me on my ride. Show up at the D’Aubigny Park parking lot in Brantford in time to leave for 9 a.m. It is a beautiful trail! The plan is to have a celebratory lunch by the beach in Port Dover, so bring some money if you want to eat. If you don’t want to ride, but have still chipped in on the finances, you are welcome to the celebratory lunch. Find me at the beach at 1 p.m.
Thanks for being part of the solution, whichever solution you choose.
